Celestia2026-07-24 15:19:41Celestia says custom chain push will center on agentic payments and onchain marketsCelestia said CEO and co-founder Nick White released a video outlining the company’s recent acquisition of Sovereign Labs and its broader business shift. In that update, Celestia said its custom high-performance blockchain business will concentrate on two verticals: agentic payments and onchain markets. The company described agentic payments as infrastructure for high-frequency, high-volume microtransactions with instant settlement and no need to establish billing relationships. For onchain markets, Celestia said it wants to bring exchange throughput and latency to levels comparable with Binance and even Nasdaq. Celestia also said its go-to-market approach has changed. Rather than working mainly with startups and independent developers, it is now moving to serve large applications and enterprises that already have concrete business demand and distribution capabilities, while offering them full-stack blockchain infrastructure. Foresight News had previously reported that Celestia Labs acquired high-performance blockchain framework developer Sovereign Labs, and that Sovereign co-founder Preston Evans would become chief technology officer at Celestia Labs. Following the acquisition, Celestia said its technical reach will extend from Layer 1 into the execution and application layers.1380
Celestia Labs2026-07-15 15:11:29Celestia Labs acquires Sovereign Labs to expand into full-stack blockchain developmentCelestia Labs said it has acquired Sovereign Labs, a developer of high-performance blockchain frameworks, in a move that broadens its reach beyond Layer 1 infrastructure. Sovereign Labs has been building within the Celestia ecosystem since 2021, and its framework has already supported projects including the cross-chain bridge Relay Protocol and the high-performance perpetuals exchange Bullet. Following the acquisition, Sovereign Labs co-founder Preston Evans will become chief technology officer at Celestia Labs. The company said the deal extends its capabilities from Layer 1 into the execution and application layers, positioning it as a full-stack partner for enterprises building custom blockchains. Celestia Labs added that demand for full-stack blockchain infrastructure is rising as projects such as Hyperliquid, Polymarket, and Robinhood choose to build their own chains, and said the acquisition is intended to address that gap in the market.1440
